Uhm… OWWWW!
While carrying a metal ladder to my backyard this morning, I stirred up a bunch of yellow jacket wasps that had built a nest on our gate. They got at least three strings into my right temple and another two or three next to my left ear before I managed to drop the ladder and run away. Of course, I slung my glasses off my face and stepped on them in the process, so now I’m out one pair of glasses.
The stings hurt like hell right when I got them (about an hour and a half ago), but after putting some cold water and “Afterbite” on them, they only hurt in a dull ache sort of way, unless I try to make a facial expression, in which case it’s a sharp, wincing pain. [sigh]
What was I doing before I got stung? I had this notion I was going to clear the overgrown brush behind our backyard fence (which abuts a “greenbelt slash floodplain”). Oh, sure, not like there are more wasps… or snakes… out there. Think I’m going to do that today? Even IF I had my glasses intact? N-O.
I think I’ll stay inside the rest of the day… Geesh! Now where did I put that Benadryl? I seem to have everything but Benadryl here, which is ironic since I’m always sneezing or stuffy-nosed, it seems.
