Send Strength to Miles & His Family

Miles is getting more gravely ill, as one of the last cancer treatment options available to him seems to not be working. Please send all you’ve got in the way of strength, positive energy and prayers his and his family’s way, and post a message of support on his site or to his email address on the site if you are so inclined. Here’s a poignant excerpt from his latest post:

Unfortunately, over the past several days, I’ve only gotten worse and worse. Dr. Wexler says it is too early to conclude definitively that the treatment is not working. We will give it the benefit of the doubt and continue the course for about another week, but we are all starting to get concerned now that it’s not working, especially as there is no backup parachute after this, except hospice care.

I’m so sorry for the pain my dying will cause so many people, particularly my family. But I have to work with what I’m given, and maybe this is what I must do now. I’ve done my best to show how a person lives with cancer, maybe now my final purpose is to show how to die with cancer.

I hope I will continue to be able to post. Somebody will.”

Please keep Miles and his family in your thoughts and prayers. I’ve been following his online journal for a couple months now since he was first featured on CNN, as well as his writings which predate the CNN coverage. Miles has already come so far — doctors could not tell him or his family if he’d even be alive to reach his high school prom and graduation and those are now milestones he has been able to experience, celebrate and relish. And every day he is alive he inspires and opens more hearts, minds and spirits…
