Long Overdue
Merry Christmas & a Safe, Happy New Year!

I should have done this back in February 2007, my last real usage of World of Warcraft, but instead Justin and I kept our accounts out of a misguided assumption we would, ever, have time to play online together anymore. Not only do we not have the time to play together, we have had almost no time to do so individually. I don’t lament this in any way–many fruitful things have filled the gap that was once occupied by WoW grinding, not the least of which is Sara, of course.
If I ever need a World of Warcrack “fix,” I’ll pony up a one-month $15.99 subscription renewal. Blizzard is more than happy to keep your characters in archive for immediate “resurrection,” should you feel the need for another hit. Until then, I’m tired of our lack of time to blow in a virtual world equaling an unearned payment of over $170 (two accounts, one of Justin and one for me) to Blizzard every six months. That money has lots of more productive places to go, especially these days (What, I can’t diaper Sara in palm fronds? Geez… it works for other cultures!)
We took screenshots of our characters together back on October 28th, 2007 (and, of course, at a few other times). I’ll post a parting shot here when I get around to it. It’s only fitting. Justin began playing first, I despised the game and then eventually joined. At the time, a ton of his workmates were also playing (and in a very well-established guild), but dude, even then we couldn’t scrape by the time and patience required to high level quest, much less PvP or dungeon-run with them. Then we got our nephew and Sara’s honorary uncle hooked, but when the latter quickly leveled to 60 as our play started to cease, thus ended the era… and that was long before Sara arrived!
It’s a wonderful gameworld and I really do wish there was a way to play in-world offline, free of charge. That’s what I loved about games like Neverwinter Nights and that ilk. Much of the fun and mental release, without the recurring fees and headaches of playing amidst people who, clearly, have made WoW character advancement a life goal.
In a real-world “Wow!” moment, check out today’s post from last year.
