Sara Update

Sara has –
…still never been sick. I know, we’ve been incredibly, inexplicably LUCKY. There’s no other explanation. We are in for a major crisis the first time she actually *does* come down with something, since we’re completely untested in that arena!

…started saying more new words, including “yellow” and “beep, beep” and I could’ve sworn she said “pretty baby” recently (she’s got “baby” down pat, but pretty would be a new one.)

…continued to show a definite appreciation for music and a surprisingly good sense of rhythm considering she’s our offspring! She loves music, and she especially loves moving to it.

…started helping out more, including (finally!) holding her own sippy cup and bottle sometimes (when she feels like it.) She’ll bring me a new diaper to put on her if I ask, or put clothes or toys away where they belong. She’s not consistent, but when she wants to help she does a terrific job!

…formed a great relationship with our cats as well as my parents’ cats. She’s usually very gentle with them and they tolerate her shrieks of joy or occasionally too exuberant pats. She loves to lay her head on their back/belly and “hug” them.

…gives the best hugs and kisses in the world to her family. She is also very caring and compassionate–when someone cries/shouts on TV she is concerned and looks to us for explanation/reassurance; when one of her young cousins was crying recently, she stopped what she was doing to go over and provide a healing hug even though he is older than she is.

…becoming her own person, with distinct likes and dislikes and the growing ability to make those known. (She reliably shakes her head “No” or nods for “Yes” which makes figuring out if she needs more milk, a clean diaper, etc., all the more easy.
