Moral Dilemma

Copied from my Twitter stream because I’m tired/lazy/busy:

* Wow. The dramatic hostage rescue that freed 15 FARC hostages from Colombia? [In the news agaion.] Talk about your moral dilemmas -> http://tinyurl.com/5qr699

* On the one hand, it’s that way to protect lives of aid workers & hostages. OTOH, 15 people were freed from upwards of 7 yrs in captivity…

* I’m not sure where I fall. Obviously it’s all hindsight now. Surely we have done things that were a little iffy in the name of rescues, too?

* (We=USA; apologies for my U.S.-centricism.)

* I do think it (use of red cross) sets a dangerous precedent for aid workers, med doctors (Doctors w/o Borders, etc.) & even journalists…

* Article isn’t clear on if the video was shopped to CNN by a *U.S. military* source or a Colombian military source… suspect latter?!
