No, this isn’t one of my daily knee health updates. I wanted to mention that a couple days ago, I ordered an iPod Shuffle from CircuitCity.com (Amazon & Apple both reported 2-3 week wait times until they’d have any in stock!) I’m looking forward to the little beastie, especially now that I’ve become this daily workout woman thanks to my knee rehab. I still love my second generation 30GB Apple iPod with custom Argentinian leather case (i-volution) by Vaja, but the ‘Pod is heavy, exceedingly expensive, and far too pretty for certain circumstances: gardening, hiking, camping, house cleaning. The Shuffle is perfect for someone who wants a decent selection of music, but doesn’t want to worry so much about marring their portable objet d’art. And while the iPod has great anti-skip capability, it was never really intended to be jostled around constantly, whereas the solid-state Shuffle has no worries.
Justin bought a new Dell Axim, which means I get to re-adopt the Axim I gave him when I quit my corporate job over 1.5 years ago. I never stopped missing my Axim, and I never got enamored with his older Compaq iPaq, which he had given me. After I get a wireless card for my Axim, I’ll enjoy geeking out with a PDA again. It is a little sad that my older model Axim, at 400mhz processor speed, is as fast as my 2001 Apple Titanium Powerbook G4 (”Tibook”). I wanted to sell that Tibook over a year ago, but when it came time to photographing it for the eBay posting, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Oh well. It is the only Mac in the house, so it seemed to make sense to keep it as the Mac component of our testbed. But still… it takes forever and a day to load up. Good thing it’s so gorgeous to look at, or it would have ended up in a scrap heap already! ![]()
