Day 16: Stairs are Evil
Morning Edition: I’m beginning to wonder why we ever bought a two-story house! It’s barely afternoon, and I think I have gone up and down our stairs at least fifteen times since 8 AM. My knee and shin are aching something fierce. I have to tell on myself, since it’s relevant to my current pain level: about half of my circuits on the stairs today were made without my ACL brace. I need to stop that. I really need to stop that, or I’ll be back on my pain meds daily.
I hope to be up to walking with Justin and his parents in a couple hours. We used to walk regularly at a small county park near our home; it’s time we all got back into that healthy habit. I’ve got my ACL brace on now, and my Garmin Forerunner has a fully charged battery, so I’ve got no excuses! I suspect I will get lapped by Justin and his parents due to my current snail’s pace, but that’s fine. My knee and leg will get stronger in time.
8:30 PM: I walked a little over 1 mile this evening, and at a slighly faster pace than my 1-mile walk on Day 13 (Thursday). I’m still sore, and have a little bruising returning to my medial calf area, but the weather was superb. Spring is in the air, I tell you! Thank goodness, because I am completely fed up with the Winter of 2005 — she’s been a witch!
A Little Good News <tm>: The numbness I’ve experienced since my knee surgery has lessened somewhat. Most of the lateral portion of my lower leg has finally lost that freakish “fat lip at the dentist’s” feeling, leaving only the area of my shin (tibia) incision totally numb. It’s progress! ![]()
