Server Outage
Remember when I was ranting about my web server downtime the other day? Well, I have now been punished for my hubris by the Net Gods.
My punishment? I was without any web (HTTP), FTP or email connectivity to half of my websites from 7 AM CST on Saturday until Monday at midnight CST. Two of the primary websites affected? Of course, it was GeekHabitat.com and WildTexas.com.
The good news is this outage did not affect the same hosting account or websites as my previously reported downtime. The bad news is in the past 30 days, every website I’ve ever owned has been knocked offline for 12-48 hours at least once. In the immortal words of H. Ross Perot, “That SUCKS!” (I don’t know why, but I just had an image of Yoda in my head when I thought about Perot. Not from a wisdom standpoint, but a… well, I guess it’s just the EARS? He also has an odd way of speaking now and then, though not quite as endearing as Yoda. But I digress… (I’ve only had 4 hours of sleep, I’m allowed to digress… go off on a tangent… lose my train of… oh, shutup!)
See ya’ll later. Back to babysitting my money-generating sites and let this one keep cruising as it has been.
So, I extend my apologies to anyone who experienced 404 errors when attempting to access these websites, or bounced emails when attempting to contact me.
Our web host has installed a brand new server and restored my account to the new system, so we’re all watching everything to ensure the issues are resolved.
