Don’t Put Those Airs on Me!
I was mindlessly surfing Amazon Prime this evening, since Justin recently signed us up for their new expedited shipping features (against my better judgment, I might add!) I decided I’m a grown up now and ought to wear a nice watch. In truth, we all look at our status bar, cellphone, dashboard or wall more than our wrists. Be that as it may, we feel compelled to strap the time to our bodies anyway!
I quickly gravitated to the Citizen “Eco-Drive” line of watches and started comparing features. I like the Eco-Drive (solar powered with long life) line, and I liked the notion of a titanium watch (I wonder why? ;)) But I quickly discovered women are supposed to only wear bracelet watches, or watches studded with diamonds and 1/3 the selling-points of a men’s watch.
Fine. Not yet totally soured on Citizen’s line, I hit Google and hoped to find the full line of Citizen’s watches more appealing. Google quickly shows me the error of my ways — Citizen is based in Japan, and apparently they didn’t hire a fluent English-speaking copy writer. Who’s putting on airs, here?
Sorry, Citizen. You’ve just soured this female American web designer to your brand in pretty much every way you could!
P.S. I think you’ll find New Yorkers keep their “airs” to themselves…
Yikes!

Heh…ever since my cellphone become permanently attached to me circa 2000, I haven’t worn (or owned) a watch.
