Day 65: Weekend Round-Up
The Young Eagles fly-in yesterday was somewhat anti-climactic. I’ll let Justin share whatever he’d like to about it, since he’s the Public Relations guy this year. Suffice it to say the P.R. was superb, with more than 100 Young Eagles showing up for their first flights, but sadly only 3 or 4 pilots were on hand to fly them. To make matters worse, a low ceiling of clouds in the morning coupled with gusty winds in the early afternoon, curtailing flights earlier than expected. Nevertheless, we thank everyone who attended, especially the Blackburn’s, Moore’s and Hemming’s; it’s always a pleasure getting together with you!
I’ve been taking it easy since Saturday afternoon. I’ve aggravated my hamstrings (left leg), both knees and the calf muscles in my right leg. I suspect it’s a combination of the jogging attempts I made on Friday; walking and standing on the uneven (grass field) surface at yesterday’s fly-in; and other activities. I’ve been braceless since Friday, and at present it feels like the right knee needs it more than the left. My recent health issues are not a popular topic in our household right now, as I have this nagging suspicion I might have a torn meniscus in my right (non-operated) knee. I’m trying not to focus on that possibility, however; particularly since I can no longer receive a lower body MRI — to diagnose the right knee — due to the three titanium screws now fixed in the tibia and femur of the left leg!
Dreary weather here today — it’s humid and windless with the gloom of thunderstorms-to-come.
