Day 89: Home for Purple Martins
No, the purple martin house still isn’t erected yet. Attached to this entry are the in-progress photos documenting the nearly 6-hour assembly (over two days) of the house. It’s now fully-assembled, but inelegantly resting on our backyard deck, next to the 18-inch-deep hole I dug for it, waiting for Justin and I to figure out how to stake it out so it won’t topple over while the concrete sets. The 80lb. concrete bag is a bi%*@ to move, so it’s in a wheelbarrow in the backyard, covered by several trashbags and an old tarp to protect it from the elements.
Exercise-wise, I’ve walked 4.5 miles yesterday (Tuesday) and 2.08 miles today. As I told my PT, Renee, via email a couple days ago, the knee feels great and I am back to all of my normal activities except hiking with weight (neither camera gear nor a loaded backpack). I don’t see my OS until May 23rd, so my biggest hurdle right now is not forgetting that appointment because everything’s trucking along so well!
The weather’s been uncommonly wonderful, although my neighbors from Utah and New York don’t seem to think so. I guess it’s the humidity that bothers them, because I can’t imagine the temperatures would! I haven’t turned our air conditioning on in over 3 days, and for May in South Texas that’s just not normal!
The temperature’s especially nice in the early morning and late evening hours — almost chilly, really!
Nothing more to report. Life’s pretty hum-drum; compared to the drama this year’s already brought, though, I’ll take ’slow and steady’ for awhile!
