Day 103: Know-Knee
I’m a little over 14 weeks post-op today; Friday marks exactly 15 weeks since my knee surgery. I see my OS again (for the last time?) next Monday — May 23rd. I haven’t been as diligent about exercise walking regularly as I had been, and would like to get back to getting at least 10 miles of walking and/or hiking in each week. Yesterday, I walked 3.09 miles, averaging 3.84 mph.
(Aside): I’m sad to say that my college education, and Justin’s for that matter, took more minutes than I care to admit computing that moving average. If anyone cares to check our math, the variables are 3.09 miles walked in 48 minutes 18 seconds. Obviously, the miles per hour value is nothing more than an average, since one’s pace varies due to things like terrain or exhaustion.
The point of this post being…? I need to exercise more, and apparently take on some remedial mathematics {and logic} courses. I’m not a betting woman, but the odds are definitely in favor of the former and greatly against the latter. I hate mathematics!
Now, if I could just get Justin to make time to accompany me on a walk at least twice a week, for at least 2.5 or 3 miles each time … Once you build up your muscles and endurance, it’s not too difficult to pull off 3 miles in less than 1 hour.
With a little work, surely most Americans — or at least my dear husband — can spare 2 hours out of every 7 days walking together for greater physical and mental well-being? I’ll start with my husband before seeing if that hypothesis can be proven on a more accurate sample size.
Note to Self: A link I need to check out regarding utilizing the Garmin’s XML output online.
