Thanks for the well-timed advice. We were lucky I wasn't the one who went down three times (or even once), given that's the last thing a 5-month post-op knee needs! Justin got scraped and bruised a bit, but nothing major, thankfully. Sadly, I have a habit of forgetting just how rocky that particular (Guadalupe River SP) trail is -- it's almost too rocky to even hike comfortably.

Until Justin and I are at the same skill level in terms of balancing on the bike, bike control, etc., we'll stick to beginner trails together. I feel steadier on the bike than he does, but I too will be more careful. No sense undoing all my OS's hard work, nor mine for that matter (PT, etc.) And we're certainly not up for the medical bills, all over again. Geesh!

Please don't take on advanced trails before you two have some experience under your belts.
Better yet, try to find a local club that puts on beginners rides. I learned so much from riding with experienced riders. Its "just a bike" but there are alot of little tricks to riding it without killing yourself.

I use the excuse of "acl therapy" for going on long rides guilt free. I wonder how long my wife will go for that excuse.

have fun
