It seems every other web log or email I read is about someone going on vacation. Vacation, what’s that?! I haven’t taken a vacation since February, and that was for a weekend camping trip with Justin and my 9-year-old nephew!

So, we’ve now got a short vacation on the books — Thursday, August 12 through Monday, August 16. We’ll be travelling East, back to our favorite alligator photography venue: Brazos Bend State Park near Houston.

If we can get ourselves in gear, we’ll get a longer trip planned for September or so — something big. Justin wants to take me somewhere I’ve never been (easy enough — many, MANY places qualify!), but I’m just as partial to returning to Rocky Mountain National Park or Big Bend National Park. When I think of how few National Parks I’ve visited — me, Ms. Outdoors — it’s pretty sad. But we’re working on that!

On another note, my Sea Monkeys arrived and I was all set to let them hatch when I realized it meant I would have to take the wee monkeys with us as we drove to East Texas. Uh, NO. So, the Sea Monkey adventure will be postponed until we’re back home.
