No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
I’ve been productive this morning. Watered the lawn, refilled the bird feeders, got the trash out to the curb in time for the garbage pick-up, hopped in the car and dropped off my original Razr v3 cellphone now that I’d gotten my replacement configured, came back and did some laundry …
The laundry.
I washed my #(!@!~$# new cellphone in the washing machine! It was in the back pocket of a pair of jeans, and I just grabbed an armload of jeans and dropped them in the washer. It didn’t occur to me until Justin called on the home line and I wondered aloud, “I wonder why he didn’t call my cell? Wait… where is my cell — I thought it was here on my desk!”
Dammit… Dammit… Dammit…
Cingular’s warranty returns policy specifically excludes water damage. I remember reading that and thinking, “Those poor idiots who wash or drown their cellphone…”
Well, now I’m the idiot. I can’t go cellphone-less, one because it’s my lifeline and I use it for our business. Two, because when we purchased my Razr we signed on for a longer-than-usual contract. We have an old cellphone with a broken external LCD that I tried to use, but since my SIM card got washed in the washing machine, too, I haven’t had any luck yet getting even the old phone to work.
Shit…
Not my day, I tell you. And when I went to post this? My mySQL server was down (hosting company’s been having issues with it across various servers…) Lovely. Just. Lovely.
I’ll go crawl back into my hole now, ‘k?
