And Now, We Wait …
I got a little desparate to disassemble my drowned Razr, on the off chance it might be salvageable once it’s fully dried out. True to form, I couldn’t find a Torx screwdriver small enough to address any of the screws holding my water-logged cellphone together, so I made a plaintive call to Dad. Thank you, Dad, for allowing me to scurry over and involve you in my cellphone hell for the afternoon!
Dad and I made a quick tour of two Radio Shacks, a Lowes and True Value Hardware Store, before finding a Radio Shack brand home toolkit ($32, with tax) that includes a Torx 5 screwdriver — the size Motorola’s Razr v3 repair manual (a 1MB PDF — otherwise, I’d post it) called for. Even if my phone’s permanently a vegetable, at least I now have a [Insert Bob Barker voiceover] lovely 55-piece tool set.
Of course, we later discovered a Torx 6 is actually what four of the critical screws require. So when I left my parents’ house, I left with not only my newly acquired toolkit, but also Dad’s Torx set and a set of pointy tweezers (Thanks, Mom!) All of this is for the stressful moment when I deem the drowned rat… er, Razr… dry enough to attempt a reassembly and power-on. I know, I’m a glutton for punishment. But I have to give it a chance to come out of its water-induced coma, considering I’m the one who caused its unfortunate state.
I may be 31, but there are times like today when I feel 12… and trust me, there’s no good way to feel 12 when you’re in your thirties.
