An email Mom sent me yesterday morning:

Mom retired on Wednesday after over 16 years with the school district, received her first retirement disbursement and wanted to help. I tried to resist, but accepted her offer with one modification — we split the cost evenly. Justin and I agreed I should to “feel the sting” of having washed my Razr v3 by paying at least half its replacement cost.

After writing a check for my half of the cost of the new phone, I realized just how fortunate I am for Mom’s generosity — the full retail cost of the phone is an astounding $366.99, not the $299 I’d been led to believe. Ouch! Also, thanks to Mom, I’ll be carrying insurance on this phone just in case some other man-made or natural disaster should befall it in the next 2 years.
