Death Before Dishonor?

Some of the many ways our nation has failed to respond appropriately in this national crisis (Hurricane Katrina). — via MetaFilter

I write this not to make light of the hard work that is being done, but rather to acknowledge there is much to learn from our response to this disaster. Every level of government has exposed its inadeqacies in dealing with a truly large scale disaster at home, one that crosses not only city zones but county and state lines. Expressed in the least politicized way I can, we are not operating at the type of efficiency and expediency one would expect from the world’s most prosperous nation. It’s appalling.
