Damn
I need to buy new headphones, eventually. I’m getting tired of the big honking earmuff cheapo ones I usually wear when working on the computer. Tonight, I dug out a pair of small in-ear, but still cheapo, headphones I haven’t worn in ages. At least now I don’t have to turn my computer’s volume to full before I can actually get anything approaching an energizing aural experience… The only problem is the cats have bitten through the cord once already (taped with electrical tape), and there’s a new hole I haven’t patched yet, oh and the cord’s too short and keeps treatening to strangle me.
While I’m on the topic of headphones… {hack cough hack gag cough} WTF? Shure E5C’s are $500, and that’s with Amazon touting “20% off!” I like how they’re see-through, as if that’s going to help people justify paying $500 for, what, an ounce of plastic? I like music, but that’s pushing it, even in my more wayward and fancy-free spending days of old! I’m not certain there’s really anything to be said for having sound so “pure and real” that you can hear the singer’s nasal hairs moving… (Sorry, that’s really a bad visual… but… $500!?!) I’d probably have to re-encode all of my MP3s if I ever got anything approaching audiophile-quality headphones, and who needs that aggravation more than once in a lifetime?
I love you, Justin!
