Stealthy, Sexy & MINE!

I am a brand spankin’, still wet behind the ears, new owner of a fully loaded 2006 “Redfire Pearl Metallic” Ford Escape HYBRID. She is stealthy, sexy and mine!

We’re both exhausted. Justin came straight from work, picked me up and took me to the dealership. We’d exchanged telephone calls all day trying to work through glitches with our price negotation service. I actually found the vehicle myself, using the website I mention at the end of my previous entry. Armed with the VIN number of the vehicle I located, the price negotiation service engaged the dealership and the adrenaline began to race through everyone’s veins. They quoted us a sweet deal, just a little bit above invoice (the FEH’s have been routinely going at or above MSRP), and we agreed to meet at 6 PM.

They tried to dicker with us a bit, but in the end I think we made out very, very well. Although I’d be lying if I said we’re both calm, cool and collected right now ($32k is a lot of money when you’ve been enjoying no car payments for awhile!), we’re excited. I’m thrilled to have a safer, modern and geek-worthy “earth-friendlier” vehicle!

I’ll post photos when it’s daylight, and I’ll post observations when I’ve driven her more than the short way home from the dealership. Here’s her window sticker. (FWD is Front-Wheel Drive in Ford parlance, btw, not Four- or Full-Wheel Drive (which is AWD, for All Wheel Drive, in Ford-speak.)

Kudos to San Antonio’s Jordan Ford. You’ve done us right!

What? Can it be? Am I the first to say…

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Hey, red may be your color! (and now i don’t have to share what I think is a drop dead gorgeous paint color, IMHO.

    Can’t wait to see her!

She is drop dead gorgeous (too). I think everyone will be suitably impressed, and I can’t wait to demo her in “stealth mode” (electric-only) at low speeds when the battery’s charged. :-)

Sonic Blue is to die for, but I think it looks best on a sports car like your Mustang. We saw it on both non-hybrid Escapes and the SportTrak pickup, and it made both look more sporty. Not altogether a bad thing, but sporty really is the realm of sports cars like the ’stang, not pickups or SUVs.

That, and there’s not a single damned blue hybrid Escape anywhere in Texas. Well, I’m exaggerating…a little. Not much, though. (I did find one way out in Buda or something like that…)

The Escape looks beeeee-aaaa-uuuuuuu-tifuuuuul in the metallic red. And with the premium package, she’s ALL red — no two-tone paintjob, and no dark gray plastic bumpers and body-cladding. I daresay she looks like a car twice her price (like my neighbor’s red SUV whose make/model I can never remember.)

Excellent!! Congratulations are definitely in order! Hehe – I’ll bet you were tempted to sleep in her last night, weren’t you?!

I am so excited for you! After 14 reliable years with your Corolla, it was time for Shannon to enjoy a little luxury, innovation and fun! I am so happy with this purchase. Driving the new Escape Hybrid (yes, Shannon has been gracious!) brings a whole new enthusiasm to driving…a whole new experience.

When that engine is not running as you’re waiting in line at a long light, you just keep thinking…”the future…is NOW…”

Now I just need the hybrid bumper sticker I designed to come in since San Antonians are not observant enough to notice the tastefully small HYBRID badges on her liftgate and driver/passenger doors. If you’re going to be part of a revolution, it’s nice for folks to know which side of it you’re on (Eg. “GREEN & Earth-friendlier” vs. “gas-guzzlin’ typical SUV”) ;-)

Boo. Yah. You go girl. One more in our ranks!

BTW, ironically I designed a Hybrid bumper sticker, too, but I’ve got it on my gas mileage tracking notebook in my glove compartment instead of on the outside of the car. ;)
