My Mom’s a Geek!
Mom bought a GPS! A Garmin, of course — could there be any other? She’s officially a geek now, although she’s been on the honorary geek rolls for quite some time due to her quick and accurate absorption of all things technical, either in her former workplace or when following the doubles tennis-like geek discussions between my brother, Thomas, my father, Justin and I.
Ownership and use of a GPS navigation system, particularly one for one’s automobile, carries some heavy geek weight and henceforth has put her in pure geekdom, whether that’s to her dismay or her delight (I suspect the latter! She married and raised geeks, afterall!) Her Scarlet Lady (1997 red Chevy Camaro with a thundering glasspack) is now equipped with the latest in GPS navigation capabilities, including Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), a highly legible screen, and useful voice prompts. I’m so proud — and a little relieved to know she has that capability to help ease her mind when driving unfamiliar roadways, inclement weather, or just when her mind needs to me more on the road and other drivers than on the rapidly approaching street signs (or the complete and utter lack thereof!)
Congrats, Mom! I hope you enjoy your “Garmie” as much as Justin and I have grown to love and appreciate our various GPS units. Garmin is top-notch and from what I’ve seen and used on your unit, you should feel very proud — you got a killer deal on a system that does more than it has any right to for its price-point!
Love,
- Daughter

Welcome to the “GPS club”! One of the best features that you’ve probably already experienced is the “off route recalculation.” Miss a turn? No biggie. Mr. GPS calculates a new route. How’s that for a stress relief when navigating the concrete jungle?
Can’t wait to see the GPS!
