Mom, The Sequel

I’m going to stop with the daily updates because they only serve to augment the rollercoaster ride my family’s on right now.

Mom’s return to solid (read: “real”) food is not working out. She is back to throwing up, severe nausea, and overall tiredness. In short, she is getting sicker again. I suspect this will kick the hospital staff into a different phase of diagnosis and treatment, as clearly just letting her pancreas “rest” for several days did not work. Sigh…

I put the chances of her being released today at <1% now. We all got our hopes up a little too high yesterday that we’d be able to bring her home today around early afternoon. She was very active, taking multiple walks in the halls and proudly showing off her IV “totem” Thomas had fashioned, and she was back to chatting and doing crafts and such.

I thought I was just being a worry-wort (something I’m coming to grips with that I might be, despite all my best efforts to the contrary), but I thought she was looking less good after her big meal last night. She ate a little but said she wasn’t hungry and left the rest of the vittles, shooing us out of her room with orders to go feed ourselves (we were all starving). I think she even rang a nurse for more nausea meds and was back to applying gentle pressure to her stomach (the pancreas is located just behind the stomach.)

Dammit…. She can’t stay in there forever….. She was admitted late Saturday night. We’re rapidly approaching 7 days in the hospital. :(

Tell your mom her IV totem rocks. I’d like to continue getting updates even if not daily, but I’d totally understand if you can’t.

I am also following your outlet on the frustration. And trying to send you good vibes from out here.

Sending good wishes and prayers your way to all of your family and especially to Christy….from her mini-friends. We live near the Eagles and have sent our thoughts on their wings to carry them high.
