Pure MPG Goodness in Every Mile!
Kudos to my former corporate cohort, Regan, and her Honda Civic Hybrid — she got 83.2 MPG over 1.5 miles!
Hey, we may not be hypermilers (I certainly am not), but {WOOT!} it’s still awesome!
Pssst… the Honda hybrids dash is much cooler than my Ford Escape Hybrid’s — like being in a glass cockpit (Garmin G1000-equipped) aircraft. Ah well, I’ll keep playing with my little cartoon screen in the Escape Hybrid. Afterall, I get my geekage from the Garmin Streetpilot 2720 I have suction-mounted to my windshield. [Yeah, trying the suction mount again even though when it gave way last time it put a 1/2 inch long gash in my dashboard. One hard stop thanks to following an unmarked student driver is enough to make me experiment with sturdy GPS placement.]

Thanks for the props.
I’ve got the 2710, and I do the weighted mount because I’m always afraid somebody’s gonna break into my car for the $500 gadget. I hadn’t thought about its potential for becoming a projectile.
Did you see the 2800 series comes with the traffic built in instead of as an add-on? I may have to upgrade and give Mom and Dad the present model.

We haven’t taken the Escape camping or elsewhere yet, but it’s definitely easier to hide (or remove, willingly) the GPS with the bean bag mount. Parked at my parents’ house, I put the sunshade up and that hides the windshield-mounted GPS, but I haven’t found a good solution for extended stays (movie theatres, hiking/biking, etc.) short of wrestling it off the windshield mount… thereby making it more likely to let go at random intervals (only once so far, but GRRRR, did it have to scratch my dashboard while it was at it?!)
Dash mounts are what the lawyers like, and what works best in sedans. Windshield mounts are actually illegal in some states (California, etc.) due to obstructing one’s vision, which it will do in a sedan — but doesn’t do in a small SUV.
My Streetpilot 2720 is still new to me; I don’t think I’ve had it a full year yet, in fact. So I try not to look at Garmin’s site too much or I’ll be quite tempted to upgrade and justify is because we’re (small beans) stockholders.
