I consider the <a href="http://www.snazzykat.com/">Snazzy family</a> part of my "virtual family," as I do Rob, Dana and Schuyler of <a href="http://belovedmonsterandme.blogspot.com/">My Beloved Monster & Me</a>. In this world, I think we could all use a few "virtual family" members. :) P.S. Kudos on the new job and relocation back to your old stomping grounds, and I presume also closer to your family. That's worth a lot in my book -- Justin and I both have the rare and wonderful gift of living near both sets of our parents, as well as reasonably close to all of our siblings.
