1992 TOYOTA COROLLA DX

Sadly, we are selling her very soon. She’s been a wonderful, wonderful, and again, most wonderful vehicle. 30 MPG on average.

Oh what memories!

She Has …

  • Been down-island at Padre Island National Seashore, all the way to the start of the 4×4-only accessible section.
  • Slogged through mud on a birding trip to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge.
  • Been on numerous camping trips throughout South and Central Texas.
  • Been out of state on occasion, including several trips to Arkansas, Colorado and others.
  • Been garaged most of her life, thus accounting for her beautiful “skin”.
  • Never been in any accident, although I did blow one of her tires during finals week at UTSA by trying to avoid a speed bump, but nailing a curb with the sidewall in the process.
  • Held so much camping and camera gear before that it probably looked like I’d just robbed an REI and camera store.
  • Carried every single plant, potting soil and bird seed bag, and home maintenance item I’ve ever bought myself, which is a considerable amount over 10+ years. (If Justin’s around, we always used his F-150 Supercrew 4×4.)
  • Accompanied me on several solo camping trips, including to Hill Country State Natural Area in Bandera, Texas.
  • Never, ever, ever given me the slightest bit of trouble. Ever. The most reliable vehicle in the W-O-R-L-D. If I had a three car garage, she would live there forever.
  • Earned me my first, and only, speeding ticket (43 mph in a 30 mph, in front of the Prue Road Police Substation), in late 2005.
  • Hauled our mountain bikes more than a time or two. Same for our cats.
  • Helped my brother move into, out of, and into apartments.
  • Helped us move into and out of an apartment and into our home.
  • Never, ever, ever got egged or shoe polished in high school… but only because I didn’t get her until I turned 18 (Thank you, Mom & Dad!)
  • Been driven more miles by Justin than myself, in all honesty, ever since the years we were dating and I felt much more secure when Justin drove. Jus is the better driver of the two of us, in every way.
  • Firmly entrenched in so many memories that it will be sad to see someone else, other than Justin, drive her away. I hope she is well taken care of. She’s a good old broad with a lot of miles and years left on her.

Funny… I never thought I was the kind of person who could get attached to a vehicle. Clearly, I am.
