MS150 “Bike to the Beach”

Well, it’s official: Justin’s riding in the MS150 “Bike to the Beach,” a two-day, 150-mile bicycle ride from San Antonio to Corpus Christi, Texas, that roughly 4,000 riders will be participating in. Justin’s been riding with a dedicated group of cycling enthusiasts for at least 6 months, ever since he purchased a Felt road bike, and his mileage is enough to make most of us suck wind just thinking about it — 30 to 49 miles on his road bike on weekends, followed by another 10-16 miles on his mountain bike. Ouchies!

You can follow Justin’s progress over on his relatively new bicycling blog, Bike Geek, which is run on Blogger until I get off my a## and install a WordPress for him (we own the domain BikeGurus.com which would be perfect for it!)

I’m a wimp when it comes to cycling (and camping, hiking, geocaching, etc.) in Texas summer heat, so I’m ashamed to say I haven’t even been keeping up with Justin in regards to mountain biking. I’ll get back in the saddle, in time. I may even get a road bike, someday, just to keep up with him. ;)

In the meantime, though, I’m on the sidelines and quite proud of his efforts to get in shape and challenge himself physically. Looks like my Ford Escape Hybrid will get to travel down to Corpus Christi in October to greet a quite-tired Justin at the finish line and pack up his road bike for the trip back home!

Check out Justin’s blog, Bike Geek, for more information. The MS150 benefits the Multiple Schlerosis Society and is sponsored by Valero. Please consider making a donation in Justin’s name to benefit the Multiple Schlerosis Society.

Thank you!

A big thank you, of course, goes to you! Could not do this without your support, hon. Thanks for supporting my frequent, wee-hour departures on weekend mornings…

Bring on Fall! This summer weather is crazy!
