Music

I have a new love in my life.

Game soundtracks.

The work of Jeremy Soule on “Icewind Dale” and “Neverwinter Nights” got me hooked, and now as I’ve been playing “Rise of Nations” I’ve fallen for the score used in that game, as well.

Unfortunately, it’s a little hit and miss finding the scores to games online. Amazon has a few, or else they’re categorized oddly, so it’s been difficult to fill out my collection. Sure, when you buy the game you get low bit rate samples of the songs, but after hearing a few songs sampled expressly for a commercial CD or DVD, I’m feeling a little cheated.

Anyone know of a perfect place to locate and purchase professional game soundtracks? Besides Amazon (which, as I noted already, suffers from a lack of stock or poor searchability for this product category)?

Help… the future of my Christmas wish list depends upon it! ;)

I hate to say it, but I’ve never had better luck finding game soundtracks anywhere but through ye olde dubious means - particularly suprnova and the newsgroups… for a lot of games, I don’t think there *is* another way to get them.

Said as someone who fully shares your love of game soundtracks - I listen to the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack to this day. =)
