Good News All Around

I’m cheating and just carbon copying this from my latest post on the April 2007 BabyCenter.com discussion board:

Just got back from a whirlwind morning of doctor’s visits that left Justin and I laughing that it felt like we were on the TV show “The Amazing Race“. There’s good news from all fronts, and everything is progressing wonderfully!

Here’s a quick run-down of the morning:

  • 8:15 AM — went to lab (5th floor) and drank the glucose solution within 5 minutes. The glucose stuff tastes like an Orange Crush soda; not bad at all… served chilled…. just chugged it, no biggie. Lab tells me to return at 9:11 AM to have my blood drawn.
  • 8:30 AM — went to the ultrasound office (2nd floor, opposite end of bldg. from my OB) and had our 28.5 week ultrasound performed. The best news is my low-lying placenta is absolutely no longer an issue — it’s way up and out of the way, far from my cervix. {woot!} Our baby girl is measuring spot on for her due date of April 1, 2007, and is at the absolute perfect (50% percentile) weight/height/etc. for her gestational age. (And she is absolutely, positively, a GIRL… in case you’re wondering.) She moved around a lot during the ultrasound, including bonking me in the cervix a couple times with her head (like she’s doing right now as I type this!) which got the ultrasound tech, Justin and I all chuckling. We got to see her cuuuute chubby cheeks, button nose and how much insulating baby fat she’s packed on since we last saw her on October 26, 2006. She opened her mouth and we got to see her lips and all. Everything about her is measuring perfectly on track and looks great! She’s so much bigger than at the 17w4d ultrasound! We didn’t want the ultrasound to end, and I teared up through the ultrasound (and I don’t cry easily, even while pregnant!)
  • 8:45 AM — popped by my OB’s office to sign in and let them know I was on my 1 hr. glucose challenge test and needed to return to the lab at 9:11 AM. That way, I got into their queue since my OB appointment was technically for 8:40 AM (they scheduled it, but knew I’d be on the glucose test and would be a walk-in this morning.)
  • 9:11 AM — returned to the lab to have my blood drawn, completing the glucose challenge test. They drew three small vials of blood. (I’m a goof… I don’t mind blood being drawn at all.)
  • 9:20 AM — headed straight from the lab to my OB’s office, who called me back within 2 minutes… and here we thought we’d have to sit around for 20-30 minutes to be fit into the schedule. Did I mention I loooove my OB and her practice? News from the OB is also terrific. My weight and blood pressure are both still tracking perfectly. Baby’s heartbeat is 146 bpm, also just right. My belly measures perfect for 28w4d. Everything was just good, good, good news! We’re now on an every-two-weeks OB checkup schedule and it felt so weird scheduling appointments all the way out to my due date… it really brings home just how soon April 1, 2007 really is.

We are totally on cloud nine right now!

Now, if I can just get my car back from the shop… This is Day 3 the dealership’s service department has had my vehicle, and I’m awaiting a call back. If I don’t hear from them in an hour (after their lunch break), I’m raising cain…. I am going a little nuts having to rely entirely on family for transportation!

I will post ultrasound pictures later, when I am back home to scan them. We also have a new ultrasound video to share. I will post that once I have imported it into my computer and added a title screen and such to it. (My 17w4d ultrasound video is linked in my signature.)

PS: I forgot to include the actual weight the ultrasound measurements showed our baby girl to be — 2 lbs. 12 oz. This is apparently the 50% percentile for weight at a gestational age of 28 weeks 4 days, meaning it’s right smack dab in the middle — not smaller than average, not larger than average, just smack dab in the middle. And it explains why her movements/kicks are so noticable now…she’s actually got some muscle and body mass to throw around! hehe

BLOG ADDENDUM:
I have my beloved “Kira” (yes, my vehicle has a name!) back home safe. Yeah, it sucked that it took the dealership 2.5 days to complete the work, but in the end they did everything I asked them to do, did it to full satisfaction, charged a fair price on the work that wasn’t warranty-related, and handled the drive shaft replacement (due to recall) without causing me to have to come back a second time. And when they dirtied the car up more than they liked, they provided a free means of getting the vehicle detailed to my satisfaction (a free Wash Tub car wash coupon). So, this is another tick mark in the “Way to Go” column for Jordan Ford of San Antonio! So far, they’ve patched two tires, rotated tires once and done a recall service, oil change and sunroof and seatbelt repair/replacement on our FEH… as well as a 60k mile service on Justin’s F-150 Supercrew 4×4, all with no issues. And, BONUS, unlike the dealership that must not be named, they didn’t return my vehicle with any new dings, dents, scratches or scars…
I’ll be sending another kudos email to their service dept.
