Project Painting: Completed

paintbucket.jpgPainting is only “fun” for a short period of time, then you wish you could just take a Photoshop paint bucket tool to the room and — with one click — be done with it already!

Thanks to Justin stepping in and painting the ceiling for me, we completed the nursery painting today. Yes, everything is white, so it may seem like nothing’s changed; however, that was our plan — primer over the purple, and then do the entire room in a durable, washable matte white paint as the final coat. If there’s time and inclination, the walls are now ready for my brother’s mural-painting talents. If not, we now have a nice, neutral white room which can grow with Sprout simply by updating/changing the room decor.

Frankly, after spending so much time covering up the dark purple paint the previous owners used, and getting a nice even finish with the (surprisingly thick and annoying to apply) washable white paint we chose, I’m more inclined than ever to leave the room white!

I’ll strip off all the painter’s tape tomorrow and take one final round of nursery painting shots before we start to move stuff into the room. I’m looking forward to the room finally looking like a nursery, and resuming crib assembly now that I finally have the replacement crib piece on hand and a painted room to assemble it in!

In other news… read Justin’s most excellent blog entry for today, dedicated to his dad. I, too, am proud of Jack for the active role he has/is taking in his health and well-being. Bravo!

Adobe and Lowe’s should really partner up on this. I’ve always wanted an Undo button, but imagine choosing a color for the walls from the Color Palette. What about the Eye dropper for those folks who want the walls to match their poodle exactly?
