Cavity
I knew I should have scheduled that dental cleaning and checkup during my second trimester. I have a toothache and I’m 34 weeks pregnant. Oy. I suspect this would be a root canal, judging from the location/origin of the toothache pain (and my dental history), so I really don’t think I even have the option of having this done as an emergency dental procedure, given the necessity of x-rays, local anesthetic (which I just read does cross the placenta) and the length of time on my back and at uncomfortable angle that I’d have to endure during the procedure.
So that leaves trying to fit in an emergency cavity filling/root canal after Sprout’s born… as a new, and nursing, Mom. So add in another 6 weeks or so post-birth day before I can realistically leave Sprout because she’s nursing every 2-2.5 hours and we don’t want to do bottles right away.
Welcome to parenthood, eh?
I see my OB on Thursday… guess I’ll bounce this off her and see what she thinks. It’s not like I’m 37+ weeks and liable to go into labor while in the dental chair (knock on wood!) Still, it sucks… definitely should have gotten my arse in to see the dentist for preventive care, instead of having to deal with this toothache and the accompanying “What if’s.”
