Alive & Well, Just Quiet

I realized I was going on almost a full week without updates, which while quite understandable with a 3-month-old is a longer absence than I’d like. My blog is the only thing that made it possible for me to update Sara’s baby book with accurate details of the last three months; it’s basically “off-site storage” for my brain these days!

Sara continues to do terrific. She’s putting on more baby fat and is increasingly vocal when playing and interacting with her world and those of us in it. She is sleeping better throughout the night, but I’ll be honest — she is back to co-sleeping 100% of the time. I’ve just been too tired at night to juggle her in and out of the crib in her nursery when we can both sleep while she nurses in our bed. Justin and I do get a bit of a reprieve some nights, since she does sleep in her bassinet at times (but never through a wake-up and nursing cycle.)

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here, but Sara has been off-and-on exhibiting all the classic signs of teething for the past month — copious amounts of drool, chewing on her fists, fussiness that (so far) resolves with a dose of infant Tylenol and some nursing, increased G.I. issues. She has good days and not-so-good days, but so far we’re able to read and respond to the signs well. She’s a very laid back little girl, so when something’s hurting or bothering her, it’s readily apparent!

We have slacked off in the past couple weeks on taking photos, and hopefully we’ll rectify that soon. It’s just been crazy-busy lately, since I’m trying to get back to exercising with Justin on the weekends (bicycling) and also trying to get back into the swing of work here at home. It took all my available time yesterday just to organize my desk in the office again. I might even have gotten some work done, if our Internet connection had actually been working (*!~#@!& Time Warner)! Justin’s also been quite busy recently, working long hours leaves just barely enough time to snuggle with Sara, much less set up the studio lights and take photos.

We’ll get back into the groove and resume documenting Sara in photos. Goodness knows, she’s not going to stop growing so we’d better stay on top of things if we want photos to commemorate her first months!
