Initial Report from MRI

At this rate, dear reader(s), I am going to have to rename the blog “Knee Habitat“. Somehow, I don’t think there’s as wide a following for knees as there are for geeks. But who knows, maybe there’s a whole knee fetish culture out there just waiting to be catered to online?! ;)

I Know Nut-hing

Haven’t heard from the doctor’s office. I guess when the imaging lab said “we have 48 hours” they intend on using all 48 of those hours. Hmph…

Update (3 PM CST):
I have “a ligament tear and a cartilage tear”.
That’s all I know until tomorrow, when the G.P. calls me back with a more detailed explanation.

In other news, I definitely need to get one of these — Darth Tater!

…May the fries with with you!

MRI & X-Rays on Left Knee

It’s Justin’s 34th birthday today, and what am I doing? Getting a MRI done, along with two x-rays of my knee (one image from the top; one with me lying on my left side). I don’t have any information on the results – they will be sent, along with a report, within 48 hours. They’ll be sent to the general practitioner I saw on January 13th, since as of this morning I still hadn’t obtained an appointment with the orthopedic specialist Mom recommended (Thanks, Mom!)

Learning About Knees

So, I have an MRI scheduled for Tuesday morning to get a look inside my left knee and see what’s up.

The knee is a fascinating, complex joint. You really appreciate how well built we humans are when something fails to function as it’s intended. It forces you to start learning how you’re put together so you can better understand how and why your body reacts to a particular trauma.

Left Knee, Reinjured

I torqued my knee again, though this time was less embarassing than my “ladder diving” episode. Today, it was a genuine accident — I simply missed the last step on our stairs while carrying a loaded laundry basket, and planted all my body weight on the injured left leg. The pain and accompanying “Snap!” was so intense I can’t even articulate it. I immediately called Justin at work, and I couldn’t even put up a proper fight when he insisted he was coming home a couple hours early to take me for emergency medical care.

I’m a Wuss

I picked Justin up from the airport a couple hours ago. He was in Houston on a corporate business trip for two nights, which reminded me that … I don’t know how to be “single” anymore. Not that I was ever really a “singles scene” gal — parties, serial dating, etc. No, the “single” I’m referring to is more the “I’m home alone for two whole nights. No matter how late I stay up, I know Justin won’t be coming to bed with me. Now what?”
