My Life’s Soundtrack
I’ll post this one soon. It requires a little more organization and time than I’ve got at the moment, but a music meme is definitely one I cannot pass up. ![]()

This morning, I joined Justin and his friends from work on an morning hike up the Summit Trail at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area in Fredericksburg, Texas. The weather was uncommonly kind to us, providing overcast skies to prevent sunburns and a steady wind at the summit to keep us cool. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Justin’s crew and sharing one of our favorite parks — and the nearby Airport Diner and Hangar Hotel — with them. The experience was made even more memorable since it let me thoroughly test out my “new knee,” and the knee performed flawlessly. No acute pain, and not even any swelling to nurse when we returned home. Not bad considering it was my first hike in nearly 8 weeks, and really my first “surgeon-approved” hike since surgery on February 4th, 2005. My first post-surgery hike was two months ago — 4.2 miles at just 10 weeks post-op, fully 6 weeks sooner than my orthopedic surgeon (OS) would have liked. He hadn’t specifically forbid me from hiking, but that hike was enough to remind me the knee was still in the very early stages of healing. Today? It felt almost like new, although wearing the hinged brace provides a constant reminder to take each step carefully.
For myself, and for all those who sometimes doubt the strength of the human spirit to find new ways to scrape life out of existence — Noah’s self-published album, “Survival” provides an answer. The album’s available for purchase and immediate download at Lulu.com.
I hope I’m not breaking any songwriter’s rules by listening to the tracks out of order, but I’ve listened to four of the eighteen songs thus far and I just have to say this:
Noah — I’m proud of you.
Favorite Track? “Grey’s Blues (Reprise)“. It has a terrific “Wild West” feel.
CNN says, “The end of the “Star Wars” movies leaves a gaping hole in the galaxy of geekdom.” Hardly. Few geeks I know have managed to purchase every season of all their favorite sci-fi television shows on DVD, yet. With several times a week viewings of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 episodes a newfound staple in our own household, I can attest there’s still plenty of Force and first contact in the galaxy for the intrepid geek to experience. We’ve currently watched every episode up through the beginning of Season 4; the second episode, “The Visitor,” is stellar! It ranks right up there with my other favorite, “Duet” from Season 1!
Am I the only one who thinks ‘Deep Throat‘ looks like gameshow host Bob Barker?!
