Quickies

Dad’s new 2005 Mustang GT finally arrived. He ordered it back in March, I believe! Photos soon… I’m decompressing the raw images from my digital camera right now, and will work on them later tonight.

My cleaning spree today around the house netted not only more free space, but also a full load of clothing to donate to the Salvation Army and a sense of order that’s been lacking as of late.

Guilt-free World of Warcraft gaming (yes, that “abyss” I referred to in my previous entry.) Actually, a “time sink” would be a better term for it — a fun, addictive time sink, but still one nonetheless. Guilt-free because it’s with my hubby at the start of a weekend.

My Hometown

I am sure it is being done in every city sheltering more than 1 evacuee from the hurricane-ravaged areas of Louisiana and Mississippi, but I wanted to share a few the ways the City of San Antonio is assisting:

* Established the San Antonio Hurricane Relief Fund to help gather and disseminate funds to the numerous charities involved in relief efforts (short list: American Red Cross, Salvation Army, United Way, Habitat for Humanity). USAA, one of the largest employers’ in San Antonio, has pledged the first $1 million to the fund.

Edits to Sunday’s Entry

I’ve added some information Justin provided to my entry on Sunday’s flight. It was easier than going through and rewriting the entry to correct for all my aviation terminology gaffes. ;)

City of Louisiana

I know some people blanch when a reporter (or, far more rarely, a politician) forcibly severs his/her link to The Collective, but it’s usually the only time I can relate to them as fellow human beings vs. hive-minded drones.

Evidence of a new, if only temporary, escapee from the hive mind:

FEMA Rap?

I wouldn’t have believed it, but FEMA has a rap “song”. Our government’s ever more out of touch than I thought. Out of touch and out to lunch… yikes, now I’m rapping.

Meanwhile, firefighters from other states are being deployed… to hand out FEMA fliers. “Hold on, ma’am. Let me lower this basket down to you. Ok. Put your hands out and on the count of three, grab and hold on tight! {flier flutters to the ground} GOOD, now call the number on that flier for information on how the government’s working to help you. Good luck!”

Sunday’s Flight

First off, Justin did all the work to get these photos from Sunday’s flight ready for me to post; so a huge, “Thank you, babe!” shout out goes to him for doing that. I seem to have an aversion to editing photos most of the time, since it reminds me of all the photo editing I need to do for our business. In other words, it feels like work. :)

Since it’s 2:20 AM on Tuesday morning and I’ve yet to go to bed, this entry will probably get edited when I’ve had sleep to fill in all the details I’m too tired to remember to share right now.
