Sittin’ on the Nest

Nothing much to report since I last checked in. As my OB says at the end of most of my checkups, “Just keep sittin’ on the nest.” The latest news is I passed my glucose challenge/tolerance test — no gestational diabetes!

My next checkup is tomorrow morning, at 30w3d, and is my first of the every-two-weeks visits so we’ll see what (if anything) they do differently at this stage. We’re really coming down to the wire at this point (10 weeks ’til April 1st!) and I definitely feel it. I’ve got new discomforts and complaints, and sleeping is becoming a rare commodity again. So far, my weight hasn’t changed since my previous checkup two weeks ago, even though my belly seems a lot bigger to me.

Happy Birthday, Justin!

Because it feels wrong to have blogged “Happy Birthday to Me!” back in late December, without following it up with a proper public pronouncement for Justin’s 36th birthday –
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Justin!

(Sung by our niece, Jillian, who turns three on March 29; will Sprout have arrived by then? We shall see…)

We love you, Justin!

Geeeeez, time flies — I remember when you turned 18! :D

Reunited

Justin performed an extraction/”rescue” of me at my parents’ house this afternoon so this pregnant gal could be reunited with her prenatal vitamins, pregnancy pillow, King size bed, clean underwear (TMI: pregnancy and clean, dry underwear are mutually exclusive), three felines and hubby. My Ford Escape Hybrid remains at my parents’ house, encrusted in ice up to one inch thick from roof rack to tires. Mom and Dad were kind enough to do the “driveway shuffle” so I could migrate her on to their driveway before leaving. Had my Escape remained parked at the curb overnight, we were all a little concerned someone might inadvertently play bumper cars with her before the weather thaws out and I can retrieve her.

This is… Fun?

The weather is crap-tacular with ice, sleet and the potential for snow; temperatures have not yet crept much above freezing and are not expected to for another 24-48 hours. I’m camped out at my parents’ house, where I have been since afternoon yesterday. My brother came in from Austin late Monday, so I migrated over since we planned to celebrate Mom’s birthday a few days’ late. We did so, but now I’m sitting around wondering when it would be prudent to hit the roadways since I don’t absolutely have to be anywhere immediately… so why add one more vehicle to the potential slip-n-slide craziness?

Li’l Chilly!

Just when I was getting used to the notion that we just weren’t really going to have a winter this year…
