And Baby Makes Three

This is Shannon (Momma) posting from Justin’s MacBook. Justin, I and baby are doing great. I don’t have much time (or cognitive function) to post an insightful, philosophical entry, so here’s my “Just the facts, ma’am” edition for starters:

Beware the Ides of March?

Nyah!

Read the March 17, 2007 entry marking the birth of our beautiful daughter, Sara Elise Moore.

Sara was born on Thursday, March 15, 2007, and we both remained in the hospital until Sunday, March 19, 2007 (as is customary in our area for recovery from a C-section delivery.)

Sara arrived at 37.5 weeks gestation with no problems other than a bit of jaundice that responded well to photo-therapy at the hospital.

19 Days?

I now find myself vacillating between “Dammit, x days is an eternity!” and “I’m not sure we’re going to get everything ready in a just x days!” The frustrating thing is these mood swings come on within minutes of each other, making me truly nutty (meaning, moreso than usual, of course.)

Baby on Board

Justin and I have been doing a bunch of stuff this weekend, and except for a few things, I finally feel like should I go into labor at any moment, we more or less have everything ready. That’s not entirely true, but it’s a lot closer than we were three or four days ago. We have the bassinet fully assembled upstairs (received second-hand from Justin’s brother and sister-in-law) and the Pack-and-Play set up downstairs (we bought this for ourselves a couple months’ ago). The Pack-and-Play has clean sheets thanks to our baby shower, and the bassinet sheets are on order from Amazon.com. All of Sprout’s new and second-hand clothing is washed, and about 90% of it is sorted and put away. We have enough diapers to last, well, at least two weeks (I hope!) and I have my hospital bag almost completely packed… put it this way, anything I’ve forgotten or not packed yet (with the exception of my ID, health insurance card and OB/pregnancy tracking card — all of which live in my purse, not the hospital bag) I won’t miss. I probably won’t use or even remember 98% of what I’ve packed, but still think I packed reasonably conservatively. I mean, it’s not like I’m moving in or will really be in a condition or frame of mind to do most of the things that seem important right now, and I know I’m not going to care about being in a hospital gown. Remembering back to my knee surgery, by the second bathroom visit post-op, I was practically falling/walking out of my hospital gown and I really didn’t give a damn who saw what as long as I made it safely from bed to bathroom (which was frequently, due to all the fluids they pumped through my IV!)

36.5 Week OB Checkup

  • Justin stayed home a half day to take me to my morning appointment, since I was not feeling well yesterday, beginning with cramps (not contractions) that kept me up from 2 AM onward. Frustrating thing about third trimester pregnancy cramps? They hurt, but you can’t time them, and they don’t make anything “progress”… :()
  • MY OB was running 1.5 hours behind schedule, with half her office out sick and some of her April due date babies coming early. Not really a biggie, considering she has 30 women due this month, just more waiting.
