Send Strength to Miles & His Family

Miles is getting more gravely ill, as one of the last cancer treatment options available to him seems to not be working. Please send all you’ve got in the way of strength, positive energy and prayers his and his family’s way, and post a message of support on his site or to his email address on the site if you are so inclined. Here’s a poignant excerpt from his latest post:

Cooler, Happier Baby

Sara’s doing much better today. She’s still a bit subdued and not quite feeling on top of the world yet, but she hasn’t run a real fever of any kind since yesterday evening around 11:30 PM. I still have her on Tylenol every 4 hours at the doubled dose our pediatrician prescribed, but probably will back that off to the bottle directions at her next dosing. She still feels a little warm to me, but her temperatures are coming up normal, so mostly I’m just medicating based on seeing that she is still physically a little under the weather.

Fevered Pitch

Sara had a slightly eventful night with increased fussiness (actual little crying jags that eerily started the moment she’d awaken) due to the 4-month immunizations she received earlier in the day. Even though she awoke more often than usual and was clearly not feeling wonderful, she quickly went back to sleep with some nursing and a couple minimum doses of infant Tylenol, so I thought this was a repeat of the easy 2-month-immunization results.

4 Month Well-Baby Checkup

Justin and I set out for Sara’s 4-month checkup in the midst of a nasty brewing thunderstorm, and got back home just as the heavens opened up. Sara did wonderfully, as usual, crying for just a few brief moments after receiving her shots until I picked her up to console her.

She’s a petite little gal, tracking at the 15th percentile in height, weight and head circumference which is just dandy — symmetry and proportion are the name of the game at this stage. Since her 2 month checkup, Sara has gained 3 lb. 2 oz., grown 2 inches in length, and added 1 inch in head circumference.

Can It Be?

Our baby is 4 months old!? She’ll be dating and asking to borrow the hybrid’s keys any down now, it seems!

I’ve posted a new gallery to our Flickr.com collection of Sara photos. You can find the growing collection of Sara (4-5 Months) photos, with more photos to be added soon. We actually do still have photos to add to some of the older galleries, so if you’re a Sara photo fan the easiest way to keep up-to-date is probably just to directly bookmark the Sara Elise Photo Collection on Flickr.com. That way you don’t miss “old” photos as they get posted, such as the two photos from within days’ of Sara’s birth that I just added this morning (Thank you, Thomas!)

Fish Swim, Birds Sing, Pilots Fly

Congratulations and a heartfelt hug to Justin for strapping back into the cockpit of a trusty Cessna Skyhawk and going for a flight yesterday. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta sing, and pilots gotta fly, so I am glad he did it.
