What Am I Thinking?

View my page on Blog 365

I’ve joined Blog 365, an offshoot of National Blog Posting Month. As if blogging for an entire month wasn’t challenging enough. In my case, it absolutely results in simply quantity over quality, but hey, the blog’s here and actually their rules are such that I could qualify without trying — photo and video uploads count as posts, etc. Piece of cake, these days. I may not take GOOD photos daily, but with the cameraphone I take at least a few photos every single day.

A Holly, Jolly, Brown by Golly, Christmas!

A thread for reference in diagnosing our BROWN HOT WATER that comes out of all of our taps now, as well as the all connected appliances. Our first thought was the hot water heater had gone kaput, which we seriously don’t want to deal with right now; but, thankfully, there are other possibilities that hopefully are less severe and less expensive to resolve. The color is VERY noticeable if you fill a sink or the bathtub with hot water.

Cold water is fine.

Long Overdue

Merry Christmas & a Safe, Happy New Year!cancelled.jpg

I should have done this back in February 2007, my last real usage of World of Warcraft, but instead Justin and I kept our accounts out of a misguided assumption we would, ever, have time to play online together anymore. Not only do we not have the time to play together, we have had almost no time to do so individually. I don’t lament this in any way–many fruitful things have filled the gap that was once occupied by WoW grinding, not the least of which is Sara, of course.

I Give, I Give!

Okay, apparently I am the only person in the known Universe that has yet to read any of the Harry Potter books. Oh, sure, I’ve seen all the movies… and I even own the first four books (must do something about completing the set.) I just haven’t picked them up and read them. This is both profoundly embarrassing and sad because I was once a voracious reader; after college, I just kind of stopped reading fiction. I’ve read the occasional autobiography or non-fiction, and a goodly number of programming and related “techie” tomes, but fiction just doesn’t seem to stick even when I manage to make the concerted effort to, you know, BUY the darned BOOKS!

Back on the Bike

This isn’t exactly an elated celebratory post, but it’s in the right direction. Justin and I headed out for my first bike ride since I was 4 months pregnant with Sara (and that was a low heart rate ride in a paved neighborhood, because my OB didn’t really want me on my mountain bike and I didn’t own a road bike yet.) Not only was this my first time on a bike in over a year, it’s my first time on a ROAD BIKE since I was about 13 years old.
