ageekgal is awake. fighting allergies and headache. Freed Amiga (youngest cat of 3) from the computer room where she was trapped since 11 PM. oops.

ageekgal need to rest up tonight so I don’t pull another “too tired to get on the bike trainer” day. Slacking badly, lately.

What Does a Cow Say?

Moo!

Now I definitely have to get myself some Moo cards–finally a sleek, simple way to carry them in my purse (read: diaper bag)!

Five Years Ago, Today

This is not a political message, but rather a human one.

Five years ago today, the U.S. began its shock and awe campaign–Operation Iraqi Freedom–in Iraq. Almost 4,000 American soldiers have perished since March 19, 2003, and our allies have taken casualties as well. At least 29,395 U.S. troops have been wounded in action, returning home with deeply scarring wounds, physical as well as psychological.

My thoughts and hopes go out to all whose lives have been affected by this war–servicemen and women, their families and the peaceful citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan that find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Who Slimed Our Vehicles?

My brother and I left our folks’ house after visiting with them this evening to a genuine “WTF?” moment as we caught sight of both of our vehicles. Thomas’ Sonic Blue Mustang looked like a bucket of especially watery red slime had been thrown over it repeatedly, and mine looked like it’d been in a wind tunnel test involving mud with a high water content. With the Ford Escape Hybrid, I at least have a rear window washer and wiper so I didn’t have to resort to washing it off before I could leave the folks’ driveway.

One Year Well-Baby Checkup

Reposted from my geekgal.vox.com blog –

I’m not in a blogging mood, but Sara’s one year well-baby checkup went well and she’s doing awesome of course. One year without any illness–rock on, chicklet! She has either ringworm or nummular eczema (Her pediatrician wrote that down for me–I guess I had “gonna be Googling this ASAP” written all over my face when I asked him to repeat it.) I suspected ringworm, but honestly I’ve had ringworm and it didn’t quite fit the bill so I’m relieved it might be eczema that youngsters get. Ringworm (fungus) is so damned hard to kill/treat.
