STS-124 En Route to ISS
I tuned in to the launch of Space Shuttle Discovery’s launch of mission STS-124 almost exactly one minute into its launch. I’ll have to catch the launch on replay.

Almost exactly a week after his Fontan completion heart surgery, Sammy and family are HOME!
Sammy’s out of ICU and on the step-down floor where he can visit the hospital’s playroom and even, apparently, go outside with his parents to soak up some good ol’ fresh air and Vitamin D. Go SAMMY, GO!
Sammy’s not feeling good today and needs some more good vibes and mojo sent his way — today’s update from Erika.
Sammy is doing well and his folks are hanging in there. There are some post-op pics of Sammy up on Erika’s Flickr stream, all with him sitting up and noshing on goodies like juice and a popsicle. For the latest, as always, check Sammy’s HLHS blog and Erika’s Twitter feed.
Keep up the good thoughts–they are much appreciated by Sammy’s parents and his extended family.
And if you’re trying to make out what this entry’s title refers to, here’s Erika’s terrific post from way back in October ‘05 when she and Jay decided on a name for their “little monkey” — The Baby’s Name.
Folks, please keep the good thoughts and prayers going. Eka posted this on Twitter but had no time and energy to post it here — [From http://www.twitter.com/erikarenee] “Exhausted. VERY hard seeing Sammy post-op. Harder than making it through surgery. Jay staying at hospital w/Sammy, I’m @ hotel for night.”
So we need to keep the vibe going for Sammy to be strong and heal, and for Eka (Erika) and Jay (Jason) to manage the rollercoaster as well.
