A What is the World Coming to Moment

Sadly, we all have these more often than we probably want to admit–a “what is the world coming to?” moment.

I’m having one at this moment–
My mother-in-law’s primary care physician was gunned down (killed) Friday at work, not far from where we live. Initial report — MySA.com: Metro | State

Updated report after investigation (no less tragic or senseless) — MySA.com: Metro | State — the killer is in the hospital, still breathing; a San Antonio Police Department officer had to shoot him.

First Family TENT Camping Trip

Justin and I tent camped a lot when we were dating as well as the first several years of our marriage, before we got busy. Before Sara was born, we resolved that Sara would grow up exposed to camping and the outdoors from the start. So we’ve gradually been easing her into camping, first a cabin “camping” trip to Buescher State Park near Austin, and this weekend, her first tent camping trip to Guadalupe River State Park.

This is Me to a “T”

It’s insights like these that make me love Flickr:

From user shellen
Realized I’ve fallen into an old bad habit, letting my inbox become my to-do list. Having a to-do list that anyone can add items to sucks!”

Keep Your Parents Close

The email was from a friend (Bill) who works with Justin; the friend’s dad just passed away with Parkinsons & Alzheimers, and he lost his mom a couple years ago.

More Able-Bodied than Most of Us!

Again with the reposting from geekgal.vox.com. I’m too backlogged to maintain multiple original thought blogs (it’s why Sara’s domains still have no content… it’s easier to let her slowly take over mine. ;))

The next time any of us find ourselves thinking we cannot do something, either due to physical limitations or lack of time or energy, we need to just suck it up and try that thing… or admit we aren’t doing it for lack of WILL, not lack of ability.

I’m Getting Social Media’d Out

So I’m resorting to reposting vox.com Question of the Day answers here –

::What’s your favorite thing about being sick?

Uhm, getting better? Not dying? Sleeping through the worst of it, if at all possible? Not feeling so bad I feel compelled to blog it, just in case, you know, I do die?

Pick one.(For the record, I’m feeling better. The crud has passed. My expensive knee is angry with me, but it’s fine… just being a curmudgeon.)
