Bucket List

Reposted from my geekgal.vox.com blog, in response to their Question of the Day (QotD); this one’s a little heavy, but hey, my blogging can’t be all YouTube and TheOnion –

If you had one month to live, what five things would you do?

Shuttle Night Launch

sts123-1.jpgI missed the past couple Shuttle launches due to various things, which irks me because I’ve been trying to follow them for Sara’s sake since the program will have ceased (2010) by the time she’s old enough to have an interest in it.

Sadly, the upcoming Shuttle launch (STS-123, Space Shuttle Endeavour) is a night launch, so at roughly 1:30 AM our time (Central time zone) the Shuttle will be lifting off…in case you happen to be up, check NASA TV online. www.nasa.gov

Dear Amazon: I Have a Request

I’d like to buy a new head. No, I’m not a cannibal or oddball collector of shrunken heads. No, I don’t want an anatomically correct school-worthy model, it does have to be a real, functioning human head.

Why?

My head is killing me… I am on Day #2 of one of my killer headaches. In finding that URL to link, I discovered more proof they’re primarily triggered by changes in my hormone levels–my last one was almost exactly a month ago! Ugh….

Speaking Different Languages

Female Dental Hygienist (speaking to Male Dentist about me, the patient):
“She’s doing much better. She’s been nursing and I think once her hormones stabilize…”

Male Dentist (interrupting, addressing me):
“Doing better. Good. How’s school treating you…good?”

Me (with foamy fluoride in my mouth, and a little thrown by his question as I’m not in school & made no comments as such):
“Things are going well, I…”

Male Dentist (interrupting, addressing me):
“Good. Good. How much longer do you have in?”

{Insert Insightful Commentary Here}

Been busy, but not with anything blog-worthy (though some of it was shared as “tweets” via my Twitter.com account.)

Sara’s doing well, though she did bite her lip during a fall today. I think this makes she and I  finally even on bloody lips–she tends to head-butt me and has caused me several bloody lips. After a short round of whole body, heaving crying, in the process spreading blood on us both, she was back to her chipper self for the most part. She’s definitely discovering her self and attempting to exercise her newfound autonomy, which quite frankly demonstrates as her having mini-tantrums now (very, very short-lived ones, but probably an omen for her Terrible Twos?)

Sara’s First Zoo Visit

Sorry, just my Blackberry captures ’til Justin gets an opportunity to download the photos he shot with the Canon EOS 1D Mark II (I have the same camera, but lugging it *and* a 23-24+ pound active kiddo doesn’t quite work, so far.) Check Flickr for more (friends & family only).
