Been busy, but not with anything blog-worthy (though some of it was shared as “tweets” via my Twitter.com account.)

Sara’s doing well, though she did bite her lip during a fall today. I think this makes she and I  finally even on bloody lips–she tends to head-butt me and has caused me several bloody lips. After a short round of whole body, heaving crying, in the process spreading blood on us both, she was back to her chipper self for the most part. She’s definitely discovering her self and attempting to exercise her newfound autonomy, which quite frankly demonstrates as her having mini-tantrums now (very, very short-lived ones, but probably an omen for her Terrible Twos?)

Finally, a Ride That Uploads to MotionBased.com

I rode 14.89 miles with Justin and his BIL, David, this afternoon, and am feeling great. See the ride’s stats from my Garmin Forerunner 305+heartrate strap at http://tinyurl.com/2xaywq; you can compare my heartrate to Justin’s (his stats, here). He’s in far better cardiovascular shape than I am right now.

This is Why I Hated P.E.

Reposted from my vox blog

I always had physical education before lunch or midday, leaving me with a (progressively less) red face for the rest of the day. A shower helps, but I’m always the beet after exertion, especially during outdoor activities in the summer.

Stats for Indoor Bike Trainer session #2:

20 min. 30 seconds sustained
(Dropped my chain 2 minutes in and reset my monitor to start fresh; also “coasted” for two roughly 15 second intervals, hence the extra 30 seconds)

Heartrate monitor:
Avg around 160 bpm (will know exact once I upload the data.)

Nice, in Theory, But Unsupported

Reposted from my vox blog (I gotta figure out which I prefer, this is getting redundant redundant.)

So I was jazzed to upload my “Indoor Bike Trainer (Day #1)” Garmin Forerunner 305 data, which obviously for an indoor stationary bike ride just amounts to TIME and HEART RATE (via the 305’s heartrate monitor), at least until my CADENCE sensor arrives (thereby delivering SPEED and DISTANCE data.)

In plain English, here’s what I did today on the indoor bike trainer:
10 min, sustained
(5 minute break to eat and hydrate–had NO energy)
15 min, sustained

(Gan)Green(e) Thumb?

My friend, Regan, pointed out that the lilies I received on Valentine’s Day are likely toxic to our felines, so that we could be certain to keep them out of their reach. That prompted me to do some surfing, namely to the National Poison Center Network

Assemble Bike Trainer: Check

Reposted from my vox blog:
My Road Bike on Bike TrainerGood Reflectors :)Indoor Bike Trainer

The eagerly anticipated bike trainer arrived today, and after some choice words that I hope not to hear from my 11-month-old’s lips anytime soon, it is fully assembled and my road bike is firmly (one hopes, anyway) mounted to it.

I had planned to use the kiddo’s blue mats underneath the entire bike footprint, in case of grease from the chain ring or from the bike trainer itself, but that didn’t leave me much clearance below my rear tire when I’m on the bike, so out that plan went. No wonder they charge $50 for ultra-thin rubber mats to go under bike trainers. Oh well. I figure a towel or two will serve the same purpose, and maybe once I lose some weight the bike+trainer won’t sink so far on the mat? (Hey, a chick can dream!)
